Please allow me to introduce myself.
In the real world I’m 28. I have been working since I was 13, so I have about 2.3 billion work stories. I am an engineer that works in a sales / design / support position at a high end office furniture manufacturer. I tell really long stories. When I get done with a story, the people hearing it know more about what happened than the people that were there. I once had someone ask me to tell them a long story. I told them that I can’t just TELL a story, it has to be spurned by something coming up in conversation. They told me to tell a story “about work”. Again, I told them that my stories are flushed to the surface by a conversation, and I can’t just spurt one out like I have them in a card catalog. They said “Tell me a story that ends “and then I ate the sandwich”. “ Ok. That brought one to mind. One hour and 20 minutes later of one continuous story I said “And then I ate the sandwich”. You may notice that some of my posts will get kind of long. Please know that I am sparing you some detail. About 1/4 to 1/2 of all my stories are edited out after I write them…keep that in mind when you read a post that is a few thousand words long…that is only half of what I composed.
I just got married on 8-4-07. Married life is going well. Still getting used to the wedding ring, although the slaps to the back of the head every time I forget it are beginning to inspire me to remember it more. I may dole out relationship advice from time to time. The first one I will give ANY gamer: Marry a couch potato. If they are glued to a CSI marathon, they don’t complain about your third run on a Sunday afternoon.
The rest of my life I am in World of Warcraft: I am a hunter that was rolled my first toon in April, just after launch. I rolled a rogue and got bored fast in the late teens. I tried a lock and got into the teens. I started my hunter and fell in love. I was a Mark spec hunter all the way to 60. At 60 I tried Beast spec for a month, and Survival spec for a month. I went back to Mark spec.
I joined what became the largest guild on the server Bronzebeard in low 20’s, and was with them for a year and a half. I became an officer, and helped lead the guilds second MC run for a while before BC came out. Post BC I left the guild and switched servers to a small close knit guild of some friends. I am now a 70 hunter in a guild that is in Kara. I am a casual player that likes to raid. By causal, I play a lot but it is in small chunks. Half an hour in the morning. 40 minutes while dinner cooks. An hour before House comes on. An hour after house and before bed…Etc. I can schedule runs if I work my week around them, but 2-3 days a week is all I can sustain. You will probably notice that the layouts and color schemes around here are nothing special. This is mostly due to laziness, but also due to an exceptionally large amount of lacking to care.
My characters name is Lump. It has been Lump since release. When BC came out (as MANY people pointed out to me) there is an NPC in Nagrand named Lump. When I did the transfer I was forced to change my name because you can’t name your character after an NPC. I argued that I was here first, so they should not have been able to name the NPC after me. I lost that argument, so now my character goes by Lumpy. Some people have asked me about my name. I used to play under Bob the Goat, but since spaces are not allowed in WOW names I could not use that. I sat there for a long time trying to think of a name (I’m not very good at naming characters). I wanted to think of a name that did many things: it had to describe me, it had to be easy to spell so others did not get stuck trying to spell and pronounce a complex name when trying to invite me, I like one syllable names because they are faster to say. I understand names like “Squeaky Priest”, because she is both a priest and squeaky. I don’t understand 16 letter long names that are a hybred of latin, german, Spanish, and a sneeze, and require someone to have the Korea word pack installed to type. What one syllable word that is easy to spell and say describes me. Just then the girl I was dating looked over and said “Are we going to do anything today, or are you just going to sit there like a lump.” I decided to sit there like a lump, playing Lump. Since then there have been many variations for my alts. See if you can guess what classes these are: I have Lumpadin, Lumpervate, Stealthlump, and Lumpbash. You can find me on the server Arathor.
